The show began with workshops in front of two different audiences during its development.
Four SOB’s and a young pianist
Many efforts were made to get the show into a commercial theatre but, as the Global Financial Crisis hit the world about that time, nothing came of our endeavours.
The show has been placed in the hands of an agent: David Spicer Productions in Sydney.
This eventually resulted in a successful production in New Zealand in May, 2016 and an
encouraging email from the show’s director there says:
I directed 'Silly Old Buggers' which was a howling success and we regretted
not putting it on in the larger theatre. We put it on in our dinner theatre room with
a capacity of 90 and it was sold out from the second night of six performances, with
a waiting list for the final three. I shall be peddling it on your behalf at the MTNZ
Conference in March. The cast had so much fun with it and the audience responded
accordingly. It has been nominated for a couple of awards at the Zone 1 Napta awards.

This seems to be the end of the road for Silly Old Buggers. It’s still available
through the agent and one day, who knows, there may be renewed interest in it.
Until then, this website will stay online for historical interest and perhaps to
provide a little nostalgia for those who saw it or were part of it.
We all had a lot of fun!
